Rising British songstress Lyves returns with her incredible new single – the powerfully emotive ‘Deep Water’ (LISTEN).
Fusing cinematic strings with a slow-burning neo country rhythm, “Deep Water” follows three well-received previous singles from Lyves this year. Produced by Saint Claire (Macklemore & Ryan Lewis) and written by him with Lyves and Tienus Konijnenburg, the poetically structured “Deep Water” hears the London-based artist’s honeyed, soaring vocals offer an honest and raw insight into learning to love.
The distinctive vocals of Lyves carry a wave of emotion with them as the gorgeous yet poignant production unfolds: “Guess we’re still learning and that’s okay / Take it minute, by hour, by day, by day” she outpours during the track, which uniquely does not feature a chorus – it just purely flows, a testament to Lyves’ risk-taking, adventurous artistry.
Lyves is the alias of Francesca Bergami. Citing influences as diverse as Tracy Chapman, Enya, Tupac, Moby, James Blake and Philip Glass, Lyves is deeply inspired by music that speaks to the quiet of one’s heart. Her emotive lyrical themes have consistently earned her top positions in Hype Machine along with critical acclaim from Complex, CLASH, Notion and Pigeons & Planes. Following the success of her 2017 debut EP Like Water, Lyves joined Coldplay on fifteen dates of their ‘A Head Full of Dreams’ tour – playing to packed stadiums across Europe.
“Deep Water” continues the rise of a sensational artist unfolding, and will precede three December headline shows in London, Glasgow and Leeds in support of her ambitious 8 Rooms project – a safe space for full and free expression, with eight short stories told through the medium of film about the real emotions people may be feeling, or what they may be going through.
