Riah traveled to Norman, OK to record her EP with producer/engineer/composer Chad Copelin (Sufjan Stevens, Ben Rector). ‘Heartbreak Magic’ is as honest as it is adventurous, mixing raw vulnerability with effortless swagger and bold, unpredictable arrangements. The title track showcases Riah’s sheer magnetism steeped in sumptuous electronic beats. “Growing Up” is an entrancing tune with shimmering wind chimes and whimsical harmonies. And “Nice” captures her mesmerizing vocals in a sweetly atmospheric and bubbly song.

“The first day I worked with Chad, it just felt so right and so natural,” Riah said. “We have such different perspectives that every time we write together, we end up creating something that’s totally new and really pushes me as an artist.”
In the end, that’s what it’s all about for Riah, chasing those singular moments when the artist and the audience are at once transported to another world, a world that blurs the lines between joy and sadness and ecstasy and heartbreak and fantasy and reality. Riah’s living in a dream, and she wants to take you there with her.
To celebrate her EP release, Riah will open for LANY at the Shrine in Los Angeles tonight and perform two New York showcases in early July. She’ll play Soho House in the Meatpacking district on Thursday, July 11 and a SoFar Sounds show on Friday, July 12 (location TBA).
