A year after releasing her sophomore full-length album I’m a Dream, four-time Swedish Grammy Award winning songstress Seinabo Sey finally returns with her latest, beautiful single “Shores”. The track is written with previous “Pretend” collaborators Vincent Pontare and Salem Al Fakir of Swedish duo Vargas & Lagola. Featuring her classic soul-filled vocals coupled with resonating harmonies and characteristics of folk, “Shores” is a true, calming ballad. The track recently premiered with a live performance and an interview on Sweden’s largest TV talk show “Luuk & Hallberg”.
Regarding the process behind creating the track, Seinabo says, “At the beginning of 2017, Salem, Vincent, and I went out and sat down to write for my album “I’m a Dream”, where we also wrote this song. We didn’t get it ready in time for the album, but when I was planning a gig in Stockholm a few weeks ago, I knew that I wanted to bring them on as guests and share this song. Shortly after we rehearsed it together live, I visited the premiere program of Luuk & Hallberg where it felt natural that we would record and release it. I’ve worked with these two geniuses a lot and for so long, it feels extra fun to make a song that we’ll release together”.
Seinabo saw massive international praise for 2018 singles such as the melancholic “Breathe”, the beautiful duet “Remember” ft. Jacob Banks, the edgy “I Owe You Nothing”, and fun “Good In You”. Since, she has been busy traveling the world on tour, performing at various festivals, and appearing at several prestigious events. This past June, she performed singles “Easy” and “Still” at Brilliant Minds in Stockholm – Spotify founder Daniel Ek’s and Ash Pournouri’s international conference – directly before Barack Obama went onstage. It was at this event where supermodel Naomi Campbell invited Seinabo to perform at her Fashion for Relief charity runway during London Fashion Week – an event which supports UNICEF to provide life-saving food, shelter, and medical treatment to children around the world, including those who have been affected by the conflict in Syria.
Seinabo rose to critical acclaim in 2015 following the release of two EPs and her debut album Pretend, which TIME magazine called “One of the Year’s Best Debut Albums” and SPIN named one of the Best Albums of 2015. Certified Gold in Sweden, “Pretend” earned her a 2015 Swedish Grammy Award for “Best Newcomer” and “Best Pop” award the following year. With her limitless potential, Seinabo continues to prove herself as a powerhouse vocalist on the upwards trajectory.
