Multi-talented artist Kat Cunning released her fourth single of 2019, “For The Love“, this past Friday, and today premiered a video for the track via Billboard. Cunning crafts indie pop anthems, blending pop, soul and drawing from her study of dance as well as her time onstage. Produced by Martin Terefe (Shawn Mendes/Coldplay) and written by Kat and Justin Parker (Florence and the Machine / The Killers / Lana Del Ray), “For the Love” is a testament that love is worth fighting for.

A personal journey about the people in Kat’s life who taught her to fight for love, “For The Love” also speaks more broadly to what’s important to all of us at our core – the need and right to love. In times of division and strife, it’s important that we take a moment and acknowledge each other as we fight for the love, the people we love, and the right to love who we choose.

On the track, Kat explains: When I sing “For The Love”, I feel connected to people of all kinds who make sacrifices for the sake of love. We all deserve the right to pursue it with others, ourselves, and in what we do. Whether you are gay, straight, gendered or not, any shade of the rainbow, old or young, I hope you can feel that this is your story, too. This song is dedicated to my mom Chris, in memory of her partner Joan who passed away June 2011, the day gay marriage became legal in New York City. Go listen on repeat, happy cry, and most importantly dance in all the might of your beautiful bodies to “FOR THE LOVE”.
