(NEW YORK, N.Y.) — Indie alternative pop artist Marian Renta is thrilled to announce the digital release of her new single, ‘Shot in the Dark’, hitting stores February 2. The single is currently available on Spotify for pre-saving (https://distrokid.com/hyperfollow/marianrenta/shot-in-the-dark).
‘Shot in the Dark’ serves as the dark and passionate lead single to her soon-to-be-announced upcoming EP slated for release on February 22, and is the follow-up release to her summer buzz EP ‘Great Deep’ released July of last year. Accompanying the single’s anticipated release is its monochromatic music video scheduled for premiere on Youtube the same day at 2:00 PM (EST). The official video’s countdown has begun, and the Youtube watch page can now be visited here to set a reminder for when it airs.
The song, written and produced by Renta, is said by Renta to be a dark, energetic, soulful mid-tempo track with EDM underpinnings. ‘Shot in the Dark’, along with its parent EP, is an emotional tapestry of raw powerhouse vocals, electronic darkness, a touch of pop sweetness, delicately-crafted melodies, and heart-piercing lyrics snatched directly from Renta’s diary. Regarding her songwriting, she states: “If it hasn’t happened to me or someone very close to me, I don’t sing about it… that’s why I don’t sing about the joys of finding true love or having children–hasn’t happened yet.”
Marian Renta is an independent singer-songwriter, producer, and pianist from Brooklyn, N.Y. with two previous EPs under her belt, ‘Headfirst’ (Jan. 2021) and ‘Great Deep’ (Jul. 2021). As an alternative-pop artist, she often incorporates moody shifts between genres in her music.
Her most recent EP ‘Great Deep’ contains the pop-rock opener, ’Linger’, and closes with an R&B/hip-hop sound for the EP’s title track, both of which garnered thousands of streams and saves across Pandora and Youtube. As Renta’s third and upcoming EP’s release approaches, viewership on Renta’s official Youtube channel has skyrocketed, and the general anticipation is palpable, with her channel trailer amassing over 50,000 views in just the last week.
