Cinematic yet captivatingly intimate with mysterious, old soul sensibility. Alexa Dark is a Spanish/American multi instrumentalist singer songwriter raised between Barcelona, Munich, London, and NYC.
Drawing inspiration from her multicultural upbringing and eclectic music taste, as well as her love for film noir and French New Wave cinema. Dark began writing her own songs and poetry in her early teenage years.
She quickly took this to the stage, where she began performing live in London. Both solo with her acoustic guitar and in different bands, honing her artistic direction, arriving at her unique sound and presence. She then moved to NYC, where she became part of the downtown live music scene and began working on new music. She released her debut single “Fade to Black and Blue” in 2021.
“Archetype” sets the stage for Dark’s villain origin story, which will culminate in her debut EP to be released Q4/Q1 ’23 with three singles leading up.
The noir alt-pop siren song captures Dark’s sonic and visual world. With a growing a cult following on TikTok, her music becoming a ’60s, Bond-like soundtrack to her villainous musical universe.
In artist development with AWAL, Dark recorded “Archetype” in NYC. With Matt Chiaravalle (Debbie Harry, Warren Zevon), mastered by Grammy-nominated Joe Lambert (Angel Olsen, Sharon Van Etten).
In addition to music, Dark is an avid writer, having graduated with an English degree from NYU, written for Paris publication L’Officiel’s music & culture editorial section, and she speaks three languages (English, Spanish, and French). She also models and acts, and feels a strong connection between her music and fashion.
