Melbourne, Australia – Lucija Ivšić, also known as ŽIVA, announces the release of her haunting third single “Bad Blood” which will be a part of her upcoming debut album.
This latest release marks a significant departure from her previous work and showcases ŽIVA’s growth as an artist. After relocating to Melbourne during the pandemic lockdown, ŽIVA was born as a new project for Lucija, already well-known in the music world as the frontwoman of one of the most successful Croatian rock bands – Punčke.
“Bad Blood” features brooding synths and pounding beats that amplify the raw emotion of her Slavic heritage and darkwave influences. This is ŽIVA’s first self-produced release, a challenging and rewarding experience that pushed her songwriting skills to new heights.
“Bad Blood is an intense exploration of the battle with internal demons we all face. I poured my heart and soul into every aspect of the track, from the lyrics to the intricate production. My trusted friend and shadow band member, Anja Tkalec, provided unwavering support and guidance throughout the process.”
The accompanying music video perfectly captures the intense mood and is directed by Goran Nježić, a Croatian multidisciplinary artist, filmmaker, and musician. The recognizable eerie visuals and photo editorials are the work of Martin Peranović, Croatian photographer and graphic designer, who also did the final edit and typography.
ŽIVA’s debut singles “Power” and “Dualism” released last year, have already garnered more than 6000 streams and international radio plays, with reviews by some of the most prestigious Australian music media outlets such as The AU Review and TripleJ praising her hypnotic vocals, industrial beats, and intriguing song. ŽIVA continues to push the boundaries of her artistry and establish herself as a force to be reckoned with in the music industry.
“Bad Blood” is self-released through her label Cereal Booking and is available on all streaming platforms. The new single is a taste of ŽIVA’s debut album set to be released in May 2023.
