Naarm (Melbourne) based solo artist, EVIE LULU announces her sophomore EP Everything I Know, I Learnt From You and shares a new single, ‘In The Crowd’. Written by Evie Lulu, mixed by Edvard Hakkanson and mastered by Malcolm Belsey, ‘In The Crowd’ is an exciting, high-energy rock/pop track – the perfect mixture of heavy guitars, upbeat tempo and raw vocals.
‘In The Crowd’ follows on from Evie Lulu’s March release ‘Adored’ which started as a snippet on Tik Tok receiving half a million views and over 90K likes. The track was also playlisted by Spotify’s editorial playlist Fresh Finds Indie, and landed her an upcoming interview on Triple R.
The second single from the talented songwriter’s sophomore EP, ‘In The Crowd’ is Evie’s oldest single, written in 2020 in her childhood home. This single brings the heat, it’s upbeat, heavy and a perfect showcase of Evie’s more grungy side. With inspiration from bands like Momma and Snail Mail, the heavy chorus tied in with the catchy rhythmic line in the verses enables this song to get stuck in your head before you know it.
This track holds a place in Evie’s heart, she shares “I didn’t ever think this song would be put out, all my music is therapeutic but with this one, especially because I wrote it when I was younger and came back to it over the years, I felt so sad for young Evie, I really felt her anxiety when I was recording it in the studio.” ‘In The Crowd’ has a feeling of nostalgia, transporting you to a place where you feel the emotions emerging within this upbeat, melodic song.
Evie Lulu is an unfeigned artist whose work comes straight from the heart. She writes about losing yourself, loving someone, harbouring pain and letting go. Lyrically she is sincere and undisguised, with the added instruments and arrangement, her music makes you want to move, yell and scream. With a blend of Pop, Rock and Grunge and influences such as Snail Mail, Alex G and Silverchair; Evie is creating her own sound within the music scene and is on the path to dominating the music industry with her honesty and passion heard through her music.
