Electronic pop duo Not the Ending is the creation of singer and songwriter Julia Segal and producer Matt Francisco (Without the San). Fusing elements of house and techno music with energetic pop-driven melodies, their songwriting reflects their ability to capture experiences with sincerity. “Breakdown (Wake Me)” is their second release.

The life of an artist is full of ups and downs that always seem to come at the most unexpected times. Good things seem to happen at our lowest points, and the best moments come after weeks and months of struggle. In “Breakdown (Wake Me)”, Not the Ending contrasts the feeling of self-doubt and loss with a sweeping soundscape and cathartic release.

Not the Ending’s sound is a blend of synth pop and electronica, reflective of artists like Sylvan Esso, The Japanese House, and Laszewo. They pair clean, clear vocals against a minimalist electronic form that pulls from their combined influences – house and techno music (Without the San) and singer-songwriter, vocal pop and musical theatre (Julia Segal).

Not the Ending released their debut single “Give It Time (Fading)” on August 4, 2023. “Breakdown (Wake Me)” is the second release of a five-song EP the duo wrote together in LA over the course of one weekend.
