(New York, NY): Today, Aussie young-gun Jack Gray announced his debut EP ‘Nights Like This‘ out May 31st via Warner Music Group. Blurring the lines between pop charisma, R&B swagger, and rock and roll propulsion, the collection showcases the 20-year-old’s deft hand as both a writer and producer.
Jack’s new track “Take Our Time” is out today. The track builds from a hushed piano ballad into a dreamy synth-scape filled exploring fantasy and reality through a tragic yet beautiful love story.
“Take Our Time” is about dealing with life’s transitions…long distance relationships suck” Jack explains. “I started to notice all my friends starting to struggle with the same balancing act, so the song was born.”
Calling to mind contemporaries from Jack Garratt and James Blake to Frank Ocean and The 1975, Jack’s melodic voice floats over a combination of slick guitar work and crunchy electronic production. The songs off the upcoming EP often juxtapose conflicting emotions, tackling weighty topics with subtle nuance and thoughtful reflection, while also capturing the beautiful highs and messy lows of the journey into adulthood.
His first-ever run of North American dates opening for fellow Aussie Dean Lewis, someone he calls a mentor and friend. Jack Gray will open for chill-pop darling Ella Vos at Brooklyn Steel on Wednesday, April 10th and has also announced headlining Australian dates in support of his upcoming EP.
