(San Jose, CA) January 21, 2022 – Up and coming multi-instrumentalist and singer/songwriter AP Tobler sets themselves apart from other musicians out there by being authentic and open. Their grungy and hard rock sound is musically inspired by the likes of Green Day, Courtney Love, and Dave Grohl, but lyrically, their inspiration comes from within. As a form of catharsis, AP sings about their own struggles with their mental health and journey through their relationships as they navigate into adulthood.

They just dropped their new single, “Eclipse,” and their single “Blunt Force” on the B-side, are both personal songs with heavy themes and music. “Eclipse” is about past traumas that take up space in your mind. AP shares “Eclipse is a brutally honest song about reliving past trauma.”

The music guides the listener through the story AP tells. The lyrics of the chorus, “my mind, it constantly tortues me” over heavy guitar and dissonant chords gives the feeling of anxiety; nothing feels exactly right. To add to the feeling, there is a layer of screaming at the end, to signify the pain, as well as act as release.

“Blunt Force” is more personal to AP, but can be relatable to everyone. The song is about when they lost their best friend, without any rhyme or reason. The friend just decided they didn’t want to be friends anymore. “After two years without resolution, I finally wrote a song to express the lingering emotions I was feeling,” shares AP.

“One night I picked up my guitar and wrote a chord progression that I liked. I started to write the lyrics and within 30 minutes I had a melody and lyrics to represent the emotions of this painful experience. I refined the song over a few sessions, adding layers to fill it out. The writing process was cathartic, as I had encapsulated this traumatic event into a song.” The music itself is hard, heavy, and sudden, acting as a guide of the emotional turmoil within AP.
