Written alongside Jordan Riley (Mabel, Sigrid, Ray BLK), ‘Young’ is a deeply introspective song influenced by current world events and Ella’s own personal experiences with anxiety. A fresh sound for Ella, the track is bolstered by experimental production, hopeful lyricism and her powerful, immersive vocals.
Ella explains: “I wrote ‘Young’ at a point where I was constantly comparing my own life to everything and everyone around me. It’s easy to get caught up and tricked into believing things that really don’t matter. I wanted to write something from the heart, not only for me, but for my generation – it’s important to speak your truth and express your opinion no matter who you are.”
Recorded in London and LA, the ‘Glorious’ EP is Ella’s first solo project in five years. The EP’s soulful title track was released last month alongside a poignant visualizer and has already notched up over a million streams. Ella has also racked up a further 3 million streams with ‘This Is Real’, a recent collaboration with hit maker Jax Jones which features on his star-studded new album ‘Snacks (Supersize)’.
Earlier this week, Ella announced her first headline show in four years. To coincide with the release of the ‘Glorious’ EP, she will take to the stage at Hoxton Hall on November 8. Tickets for the show went on general sale this morning and sold out within minutes.
