Multi-talented artist/songwriter/producer FIN
In conversation with PAPER, who premiered the new single yesterday, FINNEAS explains the methodology behind his artist project: “Any song I’m going to put out under my own name has to really feel like it’s 100 percent authentic to who I am as a human being and what I’ve been through in my own life.” Finneas continues, “[Making music] it’s my favorite form of therapy. If other people relate, that’s icing.”
21-year-old FINNEAS is the true definition of an artist to watch. In addition to his quickly growing solo career – which has already been praised by Zane Lowe, PAPER, Hilly Dilly, Ones To Watch, and DuJour Magazine, among others – FINNEAS (born Finneas O’Connell) is also the songwriting and production genius behind his sister Billie Eilish’s debut EP, don’t smile at me. He’s cowritten and produced hit songs of Billie’s, including “ocean eyes,” “bellyache,” “watch,” as well as her latest chart topping release, “you should see me in a crown.” FINNEAS has also collaborated with buzz-worthy acts such as Khalid, Tori Kelly,Sabrina Claudio, Olivia O’Brien and Wafia.
FINNEAS has emerged as a staple in Billie’s live band, playing keys, guitar and backup vocals, and this Fall he will once again be joining his sister on the road for her sold-out US tour. His performance of his debut single “New Girl” has become a staple in Billie’s sets and in recent months he has stepped out with his own live solo act, performing at SXSW, co-headlining with EZI in LA and opening for Carlie Hanson in NYC.
Earlier this summer, FINNEAS and Billie Eilish launched their own Beats 1 show,Groupies Have Feelings Too. Listen to episodes on demand here.
