As the July 19 release of her eagerly anticipated self-titled debut album approaches, today Freya Ridings shares the video for her new single “Castles”: WATCH HERE. Directed by Isaac Rice (Iggy Azalea, Little Mix), the video was filmed in several locations around London.
Freya Ridings is the new star tipped by everyone from Taylor Swift to Florence Welch and Richard Quinn. She became the surprise success story of with her breakthrough platinum-selling hit “Lost Without You.” A once-in-a-lifetime song that immediately put Ridings on the map in the UK, it hit the Top 10 on seven separate occasions during a six-month run in the Top 40 and is now approaching 200 million streams.
While “Lost Without You” established Ridings’ rising star status, it was the strength of her live shows that first earned her a word-of-mouth fanbase – as captured in her early live recordings“Live At Omeara” and “Live At St. Pancras Old Church.” This fall, she will return to North America for a string of tour dates supporting Hozier, including a show at the iconic Greek Theatre in Los Angeles on October 25. Full routing and tickets are available HERE.
Every tour has seen Ridings rise to play bigger venues, most recently with a sold-out London show at The Roundhouse. Last month, she also announced details of her biggest UK tour to date, which will see her play to a combined audience of over 23,000. In addition to the headline tour and recent performances at Glastonbury and Isle of Wight, Ridings still has a busy summer of major UK festival dates ahead of her including Latitude, the BBC Summer Social, Wilderness Festival, and Electric Picnic.
Ridings’ debut album is now available to order HERE and features previous singles “Lost Without You,” “You Mean The World To Me,” “Blackout,” and new single “Castles.” Plus, there are new recordings of tracks “Poison” and “Elephant” and brand-new material including live-favorite “Holy Water” and “Still Have You.”
Ridings wrote all of the eleven songs that feature on the album which underpins her world class credentials as a songwriter. In an era in which hits are inevitably written by committee, “Lost Without You” saw Ridings become the first female artist to have an entirely self-written Top 10 hit since Kate Bush’s “Running Up That Hill” returned to the charts in 2012.
It explores themes of doubt, pain, regret, and vulnerability within songs of alchemical incandescence. Ridings’ extraordinary, vibrato-rich voice elevates them into her greatness – a vocal gift that’s undoubtedly one of the most powerful voices of her generation.
