Front and Center, the critically acclaimed concert series that kicked off its ninth season this month, announced that GRAMMY Award-winning artist Gary Clark Jr., best known for his fusion of blues, rock and soul music with elements of hip hop, is featured in its next episode on public television (check local listings).
Gary Clark Jr. has been dubbed “The Chosen One” by critics for creating his personal trademark sound, which features distorted guitar and heavy use of improvisation, paired with a soulful voice. Filmed at the famous Village in Los Angeles, he performs material from his new album, This Land, including the album’s title track and “Pearl Cadillac.”
A trio of exclusive performances from this episode of Front and Center will premier in advance of broadcast via social media channels of guitar industry giant, Gibson for the song “Low Down Rolling Stone,” trendsetting men’s fashion designer John Varvatos for “Pearl Cadillac,” and Academy Award nominee, actor Don Cheadle (@doncheadle) will launch “This Land.”
Commenting on the forthcoming broadcast, Clark said: “It was cool taping Front & Center at The Village where I did some recording on This Land. I love that spot.”
Season nine of Front and Center features an all new line-up of GRAMMY Award winners, industry legends, emerging artists and chart toppers. The new episodes include intimate performances from Hozier, Carly Pearce, Brett Young, lovelytheband, Robby Krieger and Friends, Chris Janson, The Head and the Heart and Santana IV.
