After nearly three years since his last album Musical Therapy which was released back in 2019, Jim.E.Watts is scheduled to release his new album “L.I.E.” (Life Is Easy) an 11-track album going live on all streaming platforms on October 14, 2022.
This standout project opens with a lush intro with sparse ambient chords, deep bass, melodic piano keys, and vivid guitar strums. Jim.E.Watts weaves this seamlessly into the opening track “L.I.E” which expands on the previous production.
Trap-like drums accompany his flow, and a muted synth line follows the chorus. Augmented vocals detail his artistry and a revolution of an artistic renaissance to come throughout the album. Jim.E.Watts’ introspection continues on the album’s single “Dreamland” featuring, Question Man.
With a broad perspective, he shares his insight in an impactful and intoxicating manner. Carrying on with a dreamy vibe, Jim.E.Watts and featuring artist GRACE explore a deep union with the album’s fourth track “Connection.”
A melodically seductive introduction “Connection” presents an ambient calm to the album. The entirety of ‘L.I.E.’ covers a vast array of topics from love, faith, purpose, mental struggles, and religion.
With a unique flow, raw vocals and a knack for melody Jim.E.Watts covers much ground both sonically and spiritually. Throughout the entire 38 minutes, you can hear the level of consciousness outpouring in every lyric. The deepest thoughts, feelings, musings, and emotions being set to music, a project that is totally personal yet universally relatable.
While ‘Hydroplaning’ focuses on staying on track, ‘Troubled Christian,’ featuring MicBminor, emphasizes the dilemma of doubt and the assurance of what awaits us in the afterlife.
The heartfelt ‘Lost Angel’ concludes ‘L.I.E.’ on a somber note, with a mix between Acoustic Alternative Rock and Trap. A soundscape that pulls on your emotional cords while maintaining a steady knock. The second leg of the track morphs showing Jim.E.Watts’ versatility and ear for production.
Correctly concluding the album on a note of definite declaration of the divine with the final Gospel-inspired instrumental outro. Jim.E.Watts delivers another great album that makes you take a look inward and puts life into perspective.
Whilst most of today’s music is focused on the fantasy misogynistic lifestyle of the rich and the famous it is a refreshing moment to hear soul-bearing honesty, about the struggle of your average person. Makes you feel like you just had a heart-to-heart late-night conversation with a close friend.
For all these reasons, “L.I.E.” is a no-brainer, a definite 10/10 recommend, a pleasure to listen to, and an absolute must-listen.
