(Los Angeles, CA) January 24, 2022 – The young rising pop artist, Lauren Waller, has just released her newest pop single, “Dopamine,” a dark, yet electric song about finding happiness in someone who takes you away from your worries. The song has a Lorde meets Ingrid Michaelson vibe with an overall sound like that of Katy Perry’s “ET.” The strong alien-like feeling is one that makes you feel both disconnected and intimate.
“Dopamine” is a strong song, with an infectious hook and catchy melody. Her soulful voice is in harmony with her emotionally open lyrics. She sings “…fell in love with the idea of falling for a stranger.” What makes those words so impactful is the relatability it has. We all have a desire to fall for someone who doesn’t really know us. Our desire to start over with a stranger is appealing for most. However, that doesn’t always necessarily mean the love story is there.
“Dopamine” manages to simultaneously echo the rush of new love and yet warn of the impending danger we blissfully ignore. This song is an ode to falling in love too fast.
