Tottenham’s very own burgeoning talent, Luckie. With two singles in the bag, already on over 100k Spotify streams combined, Luckie possesses a certain quality and calibre to go far – reassuring this as he unveils his latest single “Sad People, Bad People”.
The follow up to “These Days”, his new single takes inspiration from orchestral arrangements and is emboldened by its lush, swaying rhythms. Dreamy strings and folky guitars really draw you in before the introduction of Luckie’s rich vocals, which provide just the perfect level of nostalgia.
The new single is a humble tribute to his influences to the timeless sounds of Jazz and the legendary singers that have come before him yet he provides a more contemporary touch as he shines a light on his surroundings growing up and getting by in a crowded city full of blank faces.
Aptly put by the artist himself “It’s about trying to reconcile with your right to feel sad, even though you’re a complete piece of sh*t.”
With his earliest musical memories being his father playing Elvis records, his mother singing old jazz numbers and his friends freestyling to Skinnyman instrumentals, Luckie has been exposed to a range of different soundscapes, all of which have contributed to his artistry. If you then add the whole collection of musical instruments he had laying around his family home, a career in music was purely inevitable.
Now he pushes on, already building on his solid foundation, with new music and more live dates before the end of the year. There’s a lot more to come for this prospect.
