The official video for breakout Danish artist Martin Jensen’s new single – “16 Steps” with Olivia Holt (Astralwerks) – can be viewed HERE. Shot in Southern California, the clip finds Holt’s character traversing desert roads in a vintage Mercedes, as she questions her place in her lover’s life. A lawman, played by Jensen, pursues her through the desolate landscape – territory that provides a stark contrast to scenes of the summer revelries and romances unfolding simultaneously at the beach.
“You may remember the young musician from his breakout hit ‘Solo Dance’…This hook-ridden follow-up has a lot more urban edge thanks to a snappy beat and trap-influence, but this sugary melody and lovelorn message is pure summer pop,” said Billboard.com, which premiered the “16 Steps” video yesterday. The clip was directed by Michael Sauer Christensen, who helmed the clip for Jensen’s 2017 hit single “Wait” ft. Loote.
EDM.com said, “The keyboard hook and enchanting vocals pull you into the fight between body and brain when dealing with the heart.” “16 Steps” was written by After Hrs (Maroon 5, One Direction), Ali Tamposi (Kygo, Justin Bieber, Camilla Cabello), John Ryan (Harry Styles, Jason Derulo) and Liza Owen (Hailee Steinfeld, Astrid S). Jensen’s previous five singles have racked up a combined 850 million streams on Spotify alone. “Solo Dance,” has earned more than a dozen certifications worldwide, including 8x Platinum in Sweden. In the U.K., it topped the Official Dance Singles Top 40 chart and became one of the biggest hits of 2017. “Wait” featuring Loote followed in the summer of 2017 and has received 60 million plays on Spotify. Views of the official video for “Wait,” which can be seen HERE, are nearing two million while cumulative views of Jensen’svideos on YouTube have surpassed 40 million. The 26-year-old artist has been named as one of the top DJs by DJ Magazine for the past two years. He has created official remixes for Ed Sheeran, Katy Perry and other artists.
Twenty-year-old singer-actress Olivia Holt released her self-titled debut EP in 2016, which contained the hits “Phoenix” and “History.” Her latest single, “Generous,” topped Billboard’s Dance Club Songs chart earlier this year. Cumulative streams of her songs now exceed 200 million. The 20-year-old stars in Marvel’s “Cloak & Dagger,” a new series that recently debuted on Freeform.
