Today, alternative songsmith Mondo Cozmo shared his latest single “Generator,” following its debut on the ABC television drama The Good Doctor last night. The song’s lush soundscape complements the emotional outcry portrayed in the lyrics as singer Josh Ostrander belts out “generator, I’ve been waiting, come release me.” The song serves as a follow up to the recently released “Come On,” the music video for which stars actress Anna Faris. Mondo Cozmo has also announced a handful of performances including a December 6th show with X Ambassadors in Chicago and two February headline shows in San Francisco and Los Angeles, full details can be found below. You can find “Generator” streaming on YouTube here and all services here.
Josh Ostrander provided some additional background on the track, stating:
“Generator started when I did a week long studio session with John Hill. He’s one of my favorite producers, I am obsessed with his early Santigold albums. We started Generator and I took it home and finished it. I sent the song to Peter Hayes (BRMC) and he sent back a vocal track to add in, and it’s one of my favorite things in the world. Chris Archibald (Illinois) also sang on it, and drums were recorded by Andrew Tolman. It was produced by Lars Stalfors and mixed by Michael Patterson. The first time I ever played this song was at a weird dinner party with Tom Hanks and John C. Reilly, I played it on piano and I’m not sure anyone liked it.”
Mondo Cozmo is currently working on his forthcoming album, aided and abetted by friends and family, including producer Butch Vig, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Dan Wilson, Lars Stalfors and others.
