German born, LA based polymath NoMBe (Noah McBeth) returns after a lengthy hiatus with intimate new single Paint California, the first track taken from his upcoming sophomore album, CHROMATOPIA. A driving, sunshine bleached indie pop jam which sparkles with malevolent intent from the outset, Paint California is the introduction to CHROMATOPIA, a conceptual album which explores every part of a romantic relationship from start to finish. Speaking on Paint California, NoMBe states:
With the new album I wanted to switch things up and tap into a more upbeat sound. Paint California was one of the first songs that felt incredibly special and I’m so happy it’s finally coming out. Lyrically, it’s an exaggerated way of saying I’d give it all to you… it’s about offering someone the world.
It was an incredibly collaborative process with writer Kam Alexander (Alan Walker, A$AP Rocky, Illenium) and producer Kyle Moorman (Betty Who, Pink) and marks the first time I’ve used the live band in the studio. It sums up the album quite nicely and I hope people will fall in love with it.
The Godson of Chaka Khan, NoMBe’s cemented himself as one of the fastest rising indie artists around with They Might’ve Even Loved Me. a body of work which has accrued over 200 million streams and critical praise from the likes of NPR, GQ, NME, Stereogum , i-D , TIME and more. A showman with a penchant for romance, NoMBe looks to highlight the many dynamics of relationships with CHROMATOPIA, a project which tackles love and love lost across the romantic spectrum. Paint California serves as step one, look out for more from NoMBe in 2020.
