The future queen of bop delivers a confident, catchy and clever hook over a buoyant production. Climbing over a shimmering and propulsive beat, Nykki’s distinctive vocals craft a thrilling piece of stadium pop, delivering an empowering and uplifting break up anthem.
The summer pop earworm – produced by writer and producer Tim Deal, who has recently co-written and done additional production on the latest Tom Walker single “My Way,” and co-wrote and co-produced “Waste” on Lily Allen‘s latest album – features a bouncy tropical rhythm and a gigantic hands-in-the-air, eye-closed drop.
Busting some strong dance moves in her visuals for the single, Nykki explains that “the black and white scenes where I’m dancing with a boy represent the ups and downs of a toxic relationship, while the fun and colourful shots with my girls are about me moving on and regaining my own confidence.”
Hailing from Czech Republic, Nykki already achieved superstar success in her own country, scoring a TV show when she was still a child, she went on to perform with Wonderland Magazine-approved girl pop group Pink Angels.
Now focusing on her own solo career, Nykki spends her time between Prague and London, where she has been working on her new music with various producers.
Talking about her past personal experiences, the 20-years old singer stated, “I struggled with body image as I young girl, growing up in the limelight wasn’t always easy. I have learnt to love myself by focusing on self-growth and mental health, and found my centre through fitness, mindfulness and meditation.”
With “No Cry,” Nykki delivers a bubblegum synth led slice of pop combined with relatable storytelling, showing plenty of sass and the right dose of brilliance that will help cementing her status as the new princess of pop.
