Three-piece Pennsylvania modern rock band The Standby dropped their newest single “Drawing Out The Hurt,” touching on emotional confusion and “internal reflection.” The band delivers a huge soundscape that is both highly energetic and tragically somber, creating a pallet that any alternative music fan can easily take from and enjoy.
“It was important to us that this video deepened the meaning of the song, so we spent a lot of time identifying the symbols we wanted to use in the video. We spun those into our live performance and ran with it.” – The Standby on “Drawing Out The Hurt”
The band fuses elements of some of the scene’s most cherished classics (Thrice, Thursday) with more modern stylings reminiscent of some of today’s newer powerhouses (Casey, Movements, Can’t Swim) to form a perfect storm of genre-bending. This has made the Erie, Pennsylvania based emo-alternative trio already a rising favorite, deemed “hometown heroes” by the Erie Reader and premiering the accompanying video via Alternative Press earlier this week. The single is available now across all streaming platforms.
