Michigan native and outlaw country artist Waylon Hanel will release his debut, self-titled EP on February 25th.
Inspired by the likes Merle, Hank, Willie, and of course his namesake Waylon, Hanel looks to carve out his place in the genre alongside the legends that paved the way for him.
“This was the last song I co-wrote with Bernie while at his house in Texas. I returned home to Michigan with a mission to fine tune the message. After a few days, the lyrics came to me on a family trip. Later, I met with Bernie in Nashville where he helped me rearrange the song to what it is now and cut it the next day. It was a fun song to write,” says Waylon.
This five-track project includes the previously released “Armageddon” and soulful tune “If I Could Write This Song” along with other tracks written by Waylon and Bernie Nelson (Conway Twitty, Ricky Van Shelton, Kenny Chesney, Wynonna, Colin Raye, Confederate Railroad, Chris Ledoux, Kris Kristofferson & John Anderson) and was produced by Bernie Nelson.
